Man buys winning lottery ticket ‘by accident’ after forgetting his glasses

Forgetting your glasses at home can sometimes be a big inconvenience. In Bob Sabo’s case, it made him $30,000 richer.

Sabo, from Easton, Connecticut, decided to ditch the long line at his local Super Stop & Shop on Thursday and try out the instant ticket vending machine for the first time.

“I bought the ticket by accident,” Sabo told lottery officials. “I meant to buy two $20 tickets, but I didn’t have my glasses on.”

Instead, he bought a 30X Cash ticket for $30 — and won!

“When I got home and scratched the 30X ticket, I couldn’t believe it — we won $30,000,” Sabo said. “Winning the way we did was a very freaky thing.”

Sabo isn’t the first to recently win after a spur of the moment decision to buy a ticket. Just two weeks ago, Jennifer Daniel’s life changed forever when she decided to stop into a CVS to use the restroom and came out a millionaire. Another winner was stunned to find a winning $7 million ticket in a get-well card from his dad.
